Chili Steak Recipe


3 pounds of rump steak (1-inch thick)
1/2 tsp of pepper
3 Tbsps of shortening
1 tsp of salt
1/2 c of chopped onion
1/2 c of strong black-coffee
2 garlic cloves; crushed
1 1/2 c of Texas red-chili
1/2 c of pepper (green); chopped


Slice steak evenly into 6 individual cuts. Mix pepper, garlic and salt.

Sprinkle seasonings on both steak sides. Place in glass dish and stand for an hour.

After an hour, gently pat dry your steak cuts then fry and brown in shortening ’til browned, turn once. Have meat removed from the pan at once.

Cook green-pepper onion ’til soft, then add coffee and chili. Put steaks back into pan then allow to boil. Adjust the temperature then cook with cover for 45 mins.
